Our property is a smallholding that we are lovingly renovating, after moving here from Surrey in June 2017. The house dates back to at least the early 1800's, and is probably older. It is quirky and has been neglected but is full of interesting features (and some fascinating history). We are situated amongst some stunning country scenery and have four acres of fields, woods and even a pond for you to explore. So far the animal head count is 16 chickens, 2 ducks, 1 cat, 5 goats and sometimes a couple of pigs.
We have two B&B rooms in the main house plus two authentic Mongolian yurts each in their own field. We also have two self-catering holiday cottages which we lovingly converted from old farm buildings.
We are down a tiny bridleway (that looks like a path) with nothing but farmland around us. It is peaceful and green and we regularly see wildlife in the woods and fields - many rabbits, red deer, stoats, badgers and lots of birds including Buzzards and Tawny and Barn Owls.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Higher Trenear Farm is located near Helston, Cornwall. We are not far from the main Helston - Redruth road so we are in easy reach of the Lizard and all its stunning beaches. Helston itself is only 3 miles away and a little further on is the charming harbour town of Porthleven with some amazing restaurants. St Michael's Mount is only a half hour drive away, and is well worth a visit along with many other attractions towards Lands End such as the Minack theatre and Porthcurno beach (just voted one of the top 100 beaches in the world!).
Within a very short walk is a wonderful Italian cafe/restaurant called Piatto Bistro that does fab food during the day and some evenings if you don't want to cook! Or perhaps you fancy tea and cake after a day out (open Wed - Sun, 9am - 4pm, Thur - Sat open until 8pm).
This is a beautiful part of the world to explore. It is a walkers paradise, but also has some of the most beautiful beaches and coves in the country. Steeped in history, it is at the heart of mining and smuggling legend. The Lizard is still unspoilt and retains a quant charm that sets it apart from your average holiday destination.

TESTIMONIALS
Wonderful peaceful rural location but close to amenities, shops, restaurants, sights and gardens. Kate and Terry are wonderful hosts, our room was lovely, very comfortable bed and great en suite bathroom. Use of a sitting room with sofas, books and t.v. Great attention to detail with personal touches. Breakfast was fantastic and really set you up for the day. Highly recommend a stay here, guarantee you will leave energised!
B&B Guest, June 2026
The cottage is beautiful - Kate and Terry (the owners) had provided everything we could possibly need. We were greeted by home made scones, clotted cream, Jam and a loaf of bread and some butter and milk.
The seating in the lounge area was really comfortable and the king sized beds were amazing. The kitchen was fitted with everything needed.
The cottage is in a quiet and peaceful area and ideal for travelling to Helston, St.Ives, The Lizard and Land's End and plenty of more local lovely beaches. We loved our holiday and having The Dairy to return to each day was great. We would recommend this cottage to everyone.
Holiday Cottage Guest, May 2026
Kate and Terry are absolutely amazing hardworking people who went above and beyond to make our stay special. They provided us with loads of helpful information, including on where to eat. The yurts were wonderful spotlessly clean, well equipped with everything we needed, and the fire pit added such a cozy, relaxing touch, perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. Thank you both for being such incredible hosts, you truly made our holiday unforgettable!
